Mingwan Bae & Sohyeon An

Focal Point is a creative duo pursuing refined style, sensory depth, and a design language we can call our own. We are Mingwan Bae and Sohyun An, an industrial designer and a visual-industrial designer who first crossed paths during a project with LG Display and while working together at BKID, an industrial design studio in Seoul. Through that shared time, we discovered a deep alignment in our design values — a connection that has since grown into both a personal and creative partnership. Mingwan brings experience from Samsung Electronics, where he designed premium refrigerator lineups and advanced refrigerator concepts in the Digital Appliance design team, and now develops a next-generation AI companion at C-Lab. Sohyun built her expertise over three years at LG Display, leading advanced display design projects in collaboration with global and domestic studios, before moving to AK to pursue her longstanding passion for cosmetics, working across product, packaging, and branding. Together, we draw on our complementary backgrounds in product design, visual communication, technology, and lifestyle to create work that sits at the intersection of function, context, and aesthetic sensibility. Focal Point is where those perspectives converge.
